5 Ways to Stay Motivated

by - July 26, 2017

Bored.

Uninspired.

Confused.

Are you feeling the same thing right now? I do. It's very draining and it's okay. It's okay that sometimes you feel like not doing anything. It's not a bad thing to take a deep breath from all the chaos around us and just be with ourselves again. However, sometimes we end up very much inclined to it that we start losing inspiration, falling back in our comfort zone, or we're enjoying the moment too much that we actually set aside our goals and dreams. We have to remind ourselves of our goals and our purpose of waking up in the morning.

Majority of us suffer from the lack of inspiration when doing something we love. We may be very interested on doing a specific thing that makes us happy but we do not have enough courage and inspiration to keep ourselves doing the same routine over and over.

Isn't it frustrating? But instead of focusing on how bad all these things sounds like, let's talk about how can we keep ourselves inspired and motivated. Let's start, shall we?

  1. Read a book. A book is a very powerful tool to convey different messages to the reader. No matter what kind of book are you reading, there is always something in there that's going to teach you something, whether it's bravery, moving on, staying positive and much more. You can search on Goodreads.com  for book recommendations, or you might want to visit Home of a Book Lover for book reviews.
  2. Watch inspirational videos or listen to podcasts. TED is one of my most favorite places to go to watch inspirational and uplifting videos. There's a wide variety of videos you can choose from depending on how you feel as of the moment. There are also bunch of amazing and educational talks by people who discovered, made, or went through trials in life and shared how they got through it. Lavendaire is also one of my favorite Youtube channel and it is owned by a very inspirational girl named Aileen Xu. She also creates podcasts and she's the one who inspired me to start this blog.
  3. Sit down and write. Grab a notebook or a paper and a pen. Just sit down and whatever comes in your mind, write it down. Write all the things that inspires you and assess each one of them on how they affect your life. The more positive feedback you give to a specific word you wrote, the better it is for you to confirm that it's a good thing to keep, if it's not giving you a positive answer, let it go. You can also write your feelings and assess it afterwards. This way, you are reflecting over the things that you can change to keep yourself on track.
  4. Go for an adventure. Go out there, and go wherever you wanna go. Hiking, swimming, shopping, whatever that's gonna make your heart jump, do it. If it's making you happy and you're not hurting anybody, just do it. Sometimes places help us heal and find ourselves and so does our inspiration. Places we don't know yet makes us appreciate the beauty of the unknown. You can tag a friend with you along if you're not comfortable just by yourself. The most important part here is for you to get to know a place and appreciate what it can offer.
  5. Talk to people. Lastly, communicate. This might not be easy especially for people like me who has a very bad social skills, but this is also a great way to make friends and talk to them. A lot of strangers' stories inspire us to thrive and teach us something we don't know yet. Every person has a story that help us find our own spark. Communication is also a powerful tool not only to convey messages but also to discover something we aren't aware of. We can even save a life by talking to somebody. Most of the time, other people's stories push us to understand the world much more than just us trying to figure everything out.
There are tons of ways to keep ourselves inspired. I probably missed out a lot of them but these are my favorite ways and it's been very effective. Keeping ourselves working and positive over life can be difficult at times, however, as long as we thrive towards our goals and we keep our focus to achieving it, we will soon make it. It might take time but it's not a reason to stop. We live to help each other and that's the beauty of humanity.
